Welcome to the Official Web Site of ABAP, the Association of British Airways Pensioners.

If this is your first visit to the site, please check out the News and Current Newsbrief pages.  Those pages will hold all the important - up to-the-minute information.

What is ABAP and why should I join?
ABAP is an association for everyone who is receiving, or who will receive, a pension from British Airways.

ABAP's aims and objectives are all to do with protecting our pensions, something it has been successful in doing to date. Please see the Association's Objectives for more details.

This site provides members with information about ABAP's activities and also promotes the association to new, potential members. Clearly, the larger the membership of the Association of British Airways Pensioners, the more persuasive its voice will be. In this respect, 'Together we are stronger'.

The site also provides members with their own interactive talking-place - the ABAP members forum.  By simply registering members can raise topics and comment on topics raised by other members.  Anyone can read the postings but only members can post comments or raise new topics.  You can be sure that the Committee will read what members have to say with great interest.

If members want to raise a point with the Committee in private there are e-mail and postal options - click on Contacts in the left column for full details.  One technical point - please do not send attachments with e-mails.   Because attachments can contain harmful viruses, messages with attachments are not read but automatically deleted.

If you wish to send the Committee a large document or file, in the first instance write a brief e-mail message in plain text format to the Committee member dealing with e-mails - he will contact you and arrange for you to send any additional information to him directly.

Finally, if you have any technical problems with this site, please contact the Webmaster; if you have any suggestions regarding the site content or how this site could be made more useful either post a new topic in the Forum or contact the Committee.

Note from the Webmaster
We expect this site to become much more active than it has been in the past.  That means that changes in the content will occur more frequently.  If members' computers are set to cache (store) web pages, they may not see the most recent page.

The best way to avoid this happening is to adjust your web browser (Internet Explorer etc) to check for new pages every time you visit a new page.  How you do this precisely depends on the version of Windows you are using, but in Windows 2000 Professional and Internet Explorer 6 this is the sequence: left click Tools,  Left click Internet Options, in the section called Temporary Internet Options left click Settings, ensure that of the top four options, the option "Every Visit To The Page" (and no other option) is selected.

Since it is now very unusual for ISP's to cache pages (a practice over which you have no direct control) this setting should ensure you always see the most recent page when you visit the site.  Although the webmaster cannot offer an individual Help service, if you have repeated difficulty visiting the ABAP site, please let him know.
